Rating: | Review Topic: Adjustment of Status
We were hoping to be approved but were only told that someone else would make the decision later.
We are a K-1, with K-2, having gotten an I-601 Waiver.
The lady was not aware of our I-601 waiver.
Her main objective was to verify data on the forms.
The only documentation she asked for was:
Passports, my Drivers Liscense, I-94 cards which she kept, and proof of relationship materials (I gave bank statement, credit card statement, health insurance card, recents family photos, wedding album)
She marvelled at our wedding album.
Since the appointment letter said no Cell Phones, we didn't bring one. However, we learned they were fine as long as you turned them off after entering the interview offices. They were okay in the waiting room.
Interview took about 20 minutes for both my wife and her son (5 yrs old).
Parking is expensive ($18 for 1-2 hours).
We arrived about 1pm for find a long line at security. It took about 15 minutes to get through and then we waited in the waiting room about 15 minutes before our interview. The reception desk took the interview notice from us.
Once the interview began and before we could sit down we were sworn in.
She asked my K-1 wife all the questions. Virtually nothing of me.
These were the questions she asked:
What were her parents names?
Where she worked, if at all?
How we meet? (Match.com for us)
Her Birth Date
Do we have any children? Biological, Adopted?
Associations/Clubs
Current Address
Telephone Number
And re-asked all the critical yes/no questions.
Then asked some of the same for her K2 son.
She said that we should be receiving something in the mail anywhere between a few weeks and a few months. Our interview chatted and gisted with the both of us. We made her laugh so many times. She was ok.
(Yes I copied the last review and updated it with our experience as it was much the same)
