Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My first interview was on December 23, 2010. I was called around 12:30 (20 minutes after fingerprinting and documents submission) and the Consular Officer (CO) was very nice and professional. I didn't have any complication just a normal conversation as to how and when I met my wife. My wife and I were missionaries in Indonesia and got married there, and the CO happened to have lived in Indonesia for 12 months, so our conversation took another dimension - we talked about Indonesia and favorite Indonesian food and stuff! The whole interview lasted for about 10 minutes maximum. The CO had no issue with me except that I didn't bring tax transcripts for 2008-2009. The CO said: "I'm fine with you and I don't have any problem with your relationship, but there's a little problem; you didn't bring tax transcripts for 2008-2009. This is what we're going to do: I'm giving you a form that I want you to scan to your wife to get you those papers. I would have asked you to come back tomorrow, but it's going to take some time for her to get you those papers. How about January 12?" So I was given another date (January 12) to bring the tax papers.

On January 12, I arrived early enough, but the security man called for those with yellow paper, and mine was white. Due to this, all those who came after me had the chance to go in ahead of me.

I was called around 10:am and submitted the tax papers. No further question was asked. The CO (I met a female CO this time) and stamped my documents "approved" and then asked for my passport. She handed me over a blue visa collection ticket to pick up visa on January 21. In all, it was a smooth process!
