Review Topic: K1 Visa

Arrived at 9.30am, queued up for 40 mins(which was a nightmare in this heat). The queue moved quite quickly, went throught the security bit which was in a shed like thing, then went around the building and into the embassy. There were hundreds of people there..thought i was going to be there all day.Was given a number for an immigrant visa which is the correct one.Sat down, after approx 20 mins was called to a window where a man took our paperwork, birth certificates etc, then was told to go sit down and wait to be called for the interview.10 mins later we were called for the interview(they were very quick)The lady asked me,
how we met and when
have i been to see him and when
has he been to see me and when
had we met each others families
when were we getting married and where
where did Tony live
that was it, we did come across a sticky moment when asked if we had my sons fathers permission, which we didnt because we havent seen him for years and dont know where he is..the lady didnt like that idea, but called a man over who said it was ok as we had never been married and i had a sworn statement from a friend to say that there was no contact between my son and his father(the fathers choice)
they did not ask for tax returns, bank letters, emails phone bills or anything like that..only the things listed on the appointment letter...if anybody is going through the same situation where the childs other parent has no contact them please feel free to pm me for advice as it has took us 4 months to get an answer out of the embassy as to what can be used as proof of this.
All in all it was very easy and very quick, was in there a total of 45 mins
