I had my medical and interview all on the same day so I was worried about how that would all work but it is fine, plenty of time for both.
I arrived extra early to the consulate, waited to go in, they need 2 security guards before allowing people in. I was escorted to the 20th floor, told to wait until my name was called to window B, about 20 minutes. Once called to window B, I was asked for all my documents, she gave me a sheet and said she needed everything in this order, sent me to the cashier to pay my $350.00, went back to window B with the receipt. She looked it over then told me to have a seat and once she made sure everything was here I could go back and get my medical results and come back for my interview, she even offered to keep my extra stuff there until I got back so it was less for me to worry about. I had a huge folder full of pictures, extra copies of stuff, anything I thought I might need for the interview.
There was only 1 other person there that day for her K1 interview also so we shared a cab back to the clinic, they were behind so we waited there for a half an hour, then got a cab back to the consulate, we were gone 45 minutes total. Again we waited outside the door until there were 2 security guards. They take you in, go thru security again, take you to the 19th floor, they do something with your unopened medical envelope, then give it back to you and take you to the 20th floor again.
At window B, give them the envelope and told to sit and wait till my name is called. I maybe sat 5 minutes and my name was called to window 6. You stand at a counter and your interviewer sits behind, there is glass separating you and only a little opening at the bottom.
He took my finger prints, then just chatted a bit. Asked if I was nervous, I of course was, said not to worry that we were just going to have a nice chat. He explained about what he was doing and then just started a conversation and once you start talking it all seems to just be like a normal conversation with a few questions thrown in there. He was so nice, made me feel very at ease and comfortable. The questions he asked were about his work, his divorce, our families, he kinda led the conversation along to where he wanted it to go, it was very relaxed. If I didn't know it was an interview it was like having a conversation with a friend about your relationship. Normal questions that they may ask you. He then told me what he was looking for in our conversation and that I met all the requirements and that he was happy to approve my visa. I was so happy and a little emotional, tears of joy!!! He gave me a kleenex box, yelled back "I made another one cry". It was a very happy day. From beginning to end when I got to window 6, it was 20-25 minutes total. Seemed like only a few!
Everyone from the minute you walk thru the door is wonderful, helpful and very friendly. It couldn't have been better, they are there to make it as easy and painless as possible and they do a great job.
I stayed at the Days Inn which is maybe a 5 minute walk to the consulate and they store your bags for you while you go. Its also a 15 minute walk to the Woking Medical Clinic, I took a cab there in the morning, which they called for me and only took 2 minutes to get there, and walked back after my medical. Its in a great location and clean and very friendly people there also.
