Well, my wife had her interview on June 29th 2010, wow what a let down. When I called her she was bawling her eyes out. I really felt bad for her, even though we had at that point known each other for over 2 years and had been married for close to 6 months, there were a lot of things I hadnt shared with her, and in the interview they really hit her with the difficult questions. The red flag on our case was that I being in the military was stationed in a tax free zone for a part of 2009 so on my W-2 it appeared that I made a lot less than I actually did, so they were like how did he he go to ethiopia and get married when he only made xx amount of dollars. Then they were off to the races asking her all kind of really intimidating questions some of which she should have known and some which she couldnt have. In addition I have a job that I cant talk about much so she didnt know much about that either. I can understand that it looked fishy, and in the COs defense he did say sorry, I cant give you a visa today, but she was miffed, and sad. So was I, but here I am on December 2 with the reaffirmed case notice in hand and just waiting for round 2 of the interview, we are well prepared this time and I will be traveling to Ethiopia to assist her this time and go to the interview with her.
I told her we are going to do this thing together baby. Alot of times we want to blame the Embabssy and sometimes they should bare full brunt of the blame but alot of times its us. If we want our loved ones to get that precious visa and come join us in this country we need to be prepared. Lesson learned, and no love lost. So I hope this will be a piece of advice to one of my visa journey friends cause I wish some one had put me up on the game before that first interview.
