So my husband arrived at the embassy at 5:30 a.m. for his 7:00 a.m. interview. He was finished by 1:15 p.m. The consular officer only asked my husband a few questions:
How and when did you and your wife meet? We were neighbors, etc...etc.
Why didn't your wife come to the interview? My husband presented the consular officer with a letter that I sent explaining why I couldn't come and it also included a synopsis of our relationship from the beginning to now. My husband thinks the letter is what helped because after the CO read my letter there weren't anymore questions. The consular officer said, "Man, this is real love." LOL.
What is your wife's date of birth? Apparently, there was a discrepancy on the application, so he had to go to the post office and get a copy of my birth certificate, to clear it up.
So those were all the questions that he asked my husband. He did not look at any of our photos, my letters and cards that I sent my husband, my financial documents. Nothing. He did not look at a stitch of evidence except for the letter that I sent for him, the CO to read. He told my husband that all our papers were in order and the only thing he need to do was go get my birth certificate, bring it back and then the Visa will be ready on 12-01-10.
With this embassy it is important that you follow their guidelines.Go prepared with copies of everything they requested and just be confident and polite. If the petitioner cannot attend, send a letter of explanation because even though they say it is optional for the petitioner to attend, I believe it weighs more when they make their decisions. Very good interview for my husband.
