I got the appointment letter only 5 days after sending packet 3 back and the Interview was already scheduled for 11 days later, so they worked fast!!
My Interview was set for 7.30am. I arrived at 6.45 after having no problem to find a parking space very close to the embassy.
I was about the 20. person in line, but that got longer in minutes. After going through the security (nice staff, just don't bring ANY electronics, no cellphones either or big bags!!)I got to the huge waiting area where I got a number that I was called by. By 8.45am I had all the paperwork done (handing over my passport, addressing an envelope to myself,..., got explained how the process at the POE works and was told that now I had to wait for the Interview and that they would interview the peoplefirst, who did not have their medical exam yet. Well, I thought that was kinda unfair, felt a little punished for having everything done already.
The waiting wasn't too bad considering I was very nervous, they have vending machines, a machine for coffee and other warm drinks, a machine to take passport pics in case yours weren't good enough,...pretty nice.
Anyway, I got called for the Interview at 10.15am!! I gor my fingerprints taken and then had to swear an oath to only tell the truth. Then I signed the visa application form and got asked several questions about how we met, what he does for a living, where he lives, when he was born,...nothing bad.
Then I was asked for pictures, so I showed all the evidence I brought, since they were all together in a binder. He went through everything and made some comments and then kept asking more questions like if I know where my fiance went to school, if I knew his family, if he speaks german and where I learned to speak english.
It got a little more personal (not bad, just let's say more questions specifically concerning my fiance and me).
Then he gave me a paper with a phone# to call, if my visa doesn't arrive after 1-2 weeks. No "ok, we approve your visa", nothing. I guess I was a little surprised, but the Consul (very nice person)was just smiling all the time and wished me all the best for the wedding and our future together, then a nice day and with that, I was released.
Over all a very good experience. Ever since my papers arrived in Germany, things went very smoothly and fast.
