This is my first post in VJ, but I have regularly browsed this website and found tons of usefull information. Eventhough F4 category is less discussed on this forum, I would like to post this review for the recent interview that we had at Montreal. I am happy to say that our visa application was APPROVED... eventhough during the interview at one point me and my husband thought that we will be denied...GOD save us!!!

We lined up bright and early at 6.45 a.m. We were first in line, got in the consulate at 7.30 a.m. passed through security and were taken to the upper floor at 7.45 a.m. Soon after were called in to check all documents, submit medicals, photograph and fingerprint. We were asked to wait for interview. Smooth process so far. Three other people who were behind us in line were called in first for interview. Each of them took between 30-50 mins - not to mention with every minute our heart beats were jumping at a crazy rate. Anyways.. we hear our name on the announcement to report for interview. This is a small room where you have to close the door and stand in the small space. The officer sits in the cabin on the other side of window. She was a very very nice lady polite and very comforting. She made us comfortable asked us to keep all our stuff on the single chair, apologized for the long wait and asked us all to raise our right hand for oath. My 7 yr. old son thought this very funny and giggled all the way through & I could see that the officer was also trying not to laugh and to look serious. She took my husband's and my fingerprints again and was deliberating if she should get our daughter's fingerprints. She is 13.5 yrs old. She went and got in this another guy to ask him & GOD help us this other male officer started bombarding us with questions. He asked us if we intend to move to US within 6 months before our daughter turns 14. We replied yes. The officer told us that if we do not move to US before our daughter turns 14 she will have to go visit them again for fingerprinting. Then he asked us where is your passport from back home where the B2 visa is stamped. We said that it is at home. He informed us in a strict/official/authorative/scolding manner why did'nt you bring it, we cannot issue you any visa until we cancel your old visa. That is when I replied that we are now Canadian citizens and have a canadian passport & our old passport was cancelled when we got the canadian passport does'nt that mean the the US visa also got cancelled alongwith since the whole passport is cancelled. He must have thought that I have done my homework (thanks to VJ) but replied in a very authorative manner that does not matter, why did'nt you bring it here. My husband said that it is not in the checklist, and it is also not mentioned in the list of things we need to bring for interview, so we did not bring it. OMG both of us were already shivering by that time... He then left the room to discuss something with the other lady officer who was quiet all this time. A few minutes later she came back alone and asked us a few other questions like, how did we come to Canada, what do we do for living, what does my husband's sister do (she is the petitioner), etc. & Finaly the golden words were delivered "Based on the information you provided, we are approving your visa application today." & handed us a Welcome letter. She again apologized for the wait and delay and gave us a bright smile. I can swear that if the glass window was not between us I would have given her a nice hug... We ran off the small cramped room with huge relief and big smile. It was about 15-20 mins for our interview.. We were out by 11.30 a.m.

Few reminders: There is a vending machine that takes only quarters. If you have young kids make sure you bring a book or something for them to keep busy. My daughter had her book with her & I had another word search / puzzle book for my son so that they were kept busy. All in all very anxious but happy morning..
