On the day of the interview, I got to the embassy at 7:15am (my interview was scheduled for 8:45am), and there were already 80 people in line. The line moved pretty fast though. I had to show my interview letter and my passport, and the guy checking it wrote a number on my letter.

After 25 minutes in line, I entered the embassy. You have to leave stuff like your mobile, perfumes/lotions, ipod, usb, or camera with security. I kept walking and passed a second security check point to enter a room for immigrant visas.

I waited for my name (8:30am) to be called and the lady (Peruvian) that interviewed me was very kind. She asked me how we met, who introduced us, how long have we been dating, how many times had I gone to the US, how many times he had come to Peru, our marital status, and if we had any prior children.

She asked for all my documents (forms, criminal records, passport pictures, etc.) and asked for the proof of our relationship. I had the receipts of our wedding bands, my engagement ring, several gifts we bought for each other, my mobile records, postcards, an invitation to a friend’s wedding that was addressed to both of us, several boarding passes (his and mine), and a bunch of pictures.

She said it was enough proof and told me to go and pay $350 at the cashier.
I returned with the receipt, and she told me to have a seat and wait. After 30 minutes of waiting, a guy called me to door 15. The guy (American) asked all the same questions, and if I ever overstayed any trips to the US, what my fiancé’s job was, and if I know his friends, family, colleagues, etc. He annulled my tourist visa, and had me raise my hand to swear everything that I stated in my file was true. I then signed a paper and was told to wait outside.

After another 20 minutes, a third guy (American) called me to take my fingerprints. After that, he placed a pink sticker on my passport and gave an identical one to me. (meaning the visa was approved and could be picked up from a DHL office in Lima the following week)

The total time at the embassy was from 7:15am to 10:15am.
The embassy staff was very respectful and helpful.
The interview was in Spanish and it was not complicated.
