Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Interview Date: 8/12/2010, Time: 9:00am
I reached the consulate at 8:45am. I went through the security checking, they checked the interview letter, passport, and medical reports (which is sealed in an envelope from Apollo heart center. After that they directed me to another building. There is a big hall where all the interviews for CR visa, IR visa, student visa are held. There are 12 counters in which 3 are for CR and IR visas. I waited there for 20 minutes and the individual (he was Indian) at counter 10 called me and he returned all the original certificates, took my fingerprints, and he instructed me to sign the DS230. He asked me a couple
questions regarding when I got married, Where my wife in US is located?, he asked me to flip my wedding album and said, "ok" and gave me a pink slip. my number was 135. He told me to wait until they called this number for the interview.
It took about 30 minutes for them to call me, the lady (american) at counter 8 called my number and greeted me and asked me around 8-10 questions. The interview lasted about 10 minutes only. At first she asked me whether I myself filled out the DS230 form, and asked me to take an oath. After that she started asking me the questions. The questions were: Tell me about your wife, when I got married, Whether it was arranged or love marriage, Who initiated the conversation, How we came to know each other, How my wife got here to the U.S, What is my wife doing in the U.S. What I do in India, where was my wife living in India before getting to the U.S. Whether our place in India is nearby, How long have my wife and I known each other, how do you keep in touch with each other, and each asked me to flip our wedding album. she said "Ok your visa is approved". I asked her again what do i tell my wife regarding the interview and can i get the passport from Chennai vfs on the next day? She said, tell her your visa is approved and you can get your passport from vfs on the 13th. I received my passport CR-1 visa stamped on it.

Our special thank you to all the VJ members who helped me to get my visa. javascript:emoticon('')
