This is exactly timeline and process for the K1 VISA from submittal to the California Center to the interview in Ciudad Juarez, MX
I sent the 129-F at the beginning of April, 2010. I received the notice that the California Center had received my application and that they were going to review it. I sent the following info:
-Coverletter (contents)
-Money order $455.00
-I-129 F
-Copy of Birth Certificate
-Proof of having met in past two years: copies of Photos(5), passport stamps,boarding -passes, flight itineraries
-Letter of intent to marry (me)
-Letter of intent to marry (fiancee)
-G325A (me)
-G325A (fiancee)
-Proof of ongoing relationship: copies of letters(with translations) and photos (15), emails(with translations), chat conversations (with translations), cell phone bills
*in total the whole packet I sent was about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch thick
* very important that your fiancee starts processing a Mexican passport that she will need further on in the process, I recommend getting the passport for more than one year.
On June 10, 2010 I received I-797, Notice of Action telling me that the the petition had been approved and was being sent to the Department of State National Visa Center.
On July 13, 2010 I received a letter from the Consulate at Ciudad Juarez with an open appointment for the K1 Visa.
I started to gather the required information and started looking for flights and hotels.
*this is what I submitted I might be different for other people
Requirements for the interview as as follows:
-Applicant's Mexican Passport
-Original birth certificate (fiancee), copy of birth certificate and notarized translation of birth certificate
- Two-unmounted full-face photos
-I-797 Receipt of Notice of Action
- Proof of US citizenship for petitioner- My birth certificate and copy, and my US passport
- Fee receipt from Banamex $350 USD
-Appointment letter
-Two DS-156 and Two DS-156K
-Medical Examination
-I-134 Affidavit of Support for me and for joint sponsor
-I flew in to El Paso on Sunday morning, got a taxi cab to the Holiday Inn Express next to the consulate around 1pm for $80 USD
-Checked in at 2 PM- I paid around $100 USD a night made reservation 3 weeks in advance
- took a cab from the hotel to the ciudad juarez airport around 5PM
- came back to the hotel around 7:30 the flight had been delayed
- On Monday we woke up around 4:30 AM and Arrived at 5AM at the clinic, for this we needed her appointment letter and her passport as well as some ID for me in order to be admitted into the building. It is important that people go early, if not it will turn out to be a really long, I mean really long day.
- at 4:30 PM we went back to the clinic to get the results.
- On Tuesday we woke up around 5:30, got breakfast at the hotel around 6 AM and left for the consulate.
-Got in line, only my fiancee was allowed to go in around 7AM I had to wait outside, she walked out of the consulate around 11:30 she had been approved. =)
- We had to wait until Saturday Morning to get her visa package thru DHL.
* Hotel: The Holiday Inn express is really close to the medical clinics and the consulate. Our stay here was very comfortable, I did not feel I need to worry about anything. The hotel is clean and the offer free breakfast (OK). The hotel also has computers and a printer that can be helpful. There is a restaurant next to the hotel (Barrigas) the food is good. I found out of a lot more places to eat located at the mall in front of the Hotel. Since we had to wait for the Visa the whole week we visited the mall everyday for lunch. At the mall you can find your typical wendys, subway, MacD,as well as some good taco places like El Fogoncito and El TACO INN. There is also a movie theater inside the mall. We actually went two days because being inside the hotel most of the day gets really boring. We were not out on the street at night the latest was around 8PM.
* Medical Clinic: Go early and take all of what is required. There are also people in the street that offer their services if you need them. I was already prepared the only thing I needed was two of her photos, they were able to do that for me.
*Interview: Go early around 6:30 AM make sure you have everything you need. Also make sure that you fiance knows specific things about you for the interview like. where you live, where you work, also specifics of how you met or kept in touch.
*Getting Back to the US: the holiday inn has cabs 24/7 they can drive you to the border and wait for you in the US side to drive you to the airport all for about 80 dollars.
