OK, so our appointment was @ 6am, we arrived there at 5:30 and the line was really LONG. They have 4 different lanes for the K1 you get into the first 3 and on the 4th lane it’s for other people requesting other things (I don’t know what). At exactly 6:15am they started to let people in and going through the security check point, on line for females and the other for males. Once inside you are told to seat at the far end of the room (close to the cafeteria) and to wait for your name to be called. You MUST were comfortable shoes and clothing since its extremely humid there, no AC and just a bunch of HOT AIR fan blowing and then after everytime they call you to a window for whatever reason, you end up loosing your seat and that place is extremely crowded. After about an hour or so we were called to window 22, here you leave the passport, the applications and whatever paper they want and they asked my fiancée (beneficiary) if she had any kids? If she has ever been married? and if she has ever traveled to the US?.
At this point we were sent by this Puertorican lady to pay the $210 fee (window 12) and then to come back into window 22 without being called and give her the receipt. This was all done how she told us and then we received out # 316, and also received instructions from her that were were NOT going to be called by our names anymore and to just pay attention to the board and look out for our #. We were then called an hour later to window 13 for fingerprinting and 25 minutes later as we are staring at the board to look for our #316 we were called out by NAMES!!! Not NUMBER 316!!!! In other words pay attention to your # on the board but also pay attention to the PA system.
Anyways, we were called to window 21 and the inspector was a young American guy and when we arrived he was actually goofing off with his co-workers and after us being at the window for 30 seconds he just told them to go away that he had to work. He first sworn us in and that we were going to tell the truth and all that. He asked my fiancée (beneficiary) if she has ever gotten in trouble in DR? and if she had any kids? THAT WAS IT FOR HER!! The inspector just emphasized on ME! Asked me what I did for a living? How we met? How many times have I traveled to DR? do I have family out there? Where are my grand parents? When was I born? How old I was? And I was so nervous that I messed it up and said 27 instead of 26!!! I cannot believe I messed that up, this tells you how nervous I was on something that a 2 year old could have answered correctly. There were more questions but I just cant remember, but he then asked if I had any pictures so I grabbed the album and I started flipping through pages and he was looking at all of them, once the album finished, I put it away. Then he just told me that the petition had been approved and gave me a green paper for me to pay the domex (courier service in DR that actually delivers your stamped passport with your visa. We left the booth and headed to the desk next to the photographer and payed the $16 dollars for the courier service and that was it!! We came out of the embassy at around 10:15am.
