My appointment was for 1 pm and I got there at 12.30. We were in at 1 and were guided towards window 5 where the Romanian pre-screener took my passport and told me to wait. After a few minutes I was called for fingerprinting and then again at window 5 to leave all the needed docs: the affidavit, the supporting documents, proofs of relationship etc. At this stage, I was done in less than 1 hour.
2 windows were open for interviews, but suddenly, around 3 pm, a new window opens up and my name is called. It was the same Consular Officer that had granted me the tourist visa last October and I could tell he was called especially for my interview, as after I was done he closed the window and the rest of the people were interviewed at the 2 windows that were originally open.
I felt the CO was prejudiced about our case, which intimidated me a bit. He kept asking me if I \"can explain THAT\", \"THAT\" being the age difference between my fiance and I, the fact I have a job that pays my bills, but my studies are in a total different field, last year\'s trip to US etc. etc. To his questions I answered smiling that \"yes, I can explain THAT\" and, truth be told, he allowed me to give the needed explanations, even if my voice was shaking. I had tons of evidence of a real relationship and I knew he had checked everything out, even if not in front of me. In the end, he told me to have a sit, as my visa was approved and I would receive it in 30 minutes (which I did). I was out by 3.30 .
All in all, it was not a traumatic experience, but be ready to give explanations if needed. The staff are kind and they are not keen on denying visas. Nobody with bonafide relationships/marriages should have any problems. Good luck to everyone!
