I've had a very good experience during my interview for a CR1 visa in the US Embassy in Zagreb (Croatia).
Since our case has been expedited because of my pregnancy, the NVC has sent all of our paperwork to USEM in Zagreb. I've emailed the embassy 2 days after that and they told me to schedule my medical first and then let them know when will I have the results. I've called the doctor right away and he told me to get there on Monday, 26th of July and that I'll have my results within 24 hours.
I've emailed the embassy letting them know about my medical and got an immediate answer to come to the interview on Tuesday, 27th of July at 10.30 am.
Everything was happening so fast that I didn't even have enough time to think.
So, I spent 2 days in Zagreb in my friend's apartment. Medical went well, had results in hand next day before my interview.
I was in front of the US Embassy around 10.20, the guard let me in right away... and after going through control there was another guard waiting for me in the main building, that showed me where I could sit down and wait for my name to be called.
A croatian lady showed up at the window for immigrant visas after 5 minutes, asked me for my medical documentation, gave me the "welcome to America" letter and explained why am I getting CR1 and not IR1 visa and what can I do about it. Then she told me to sit down and wait for the consul to call my name at either window 1 or 2.
I was waiting for maybe 10 minutes when the consul called me up for the interview. He was a younger american guy that spoke very fluent Croatian. He asked me how I was doing, and after answering that I was doing good and asking him the same question he asked if we could talk in English. I said "of course".
Questions he asked me after that were pretty normal, he didn't go too deep into personal things at all. He asked:
1. When and where have I met my husband
2. What was the purpose of my first trip to the States
3. Have we been in a relationship the whole time after meeting each other
4. If it's hard to be apart for so long from the person your married to (duh... lol)
5. Where does he live and with who
6. What does he do for living
7. What am I planning to do for living once I get to the States
8. What does his father do for living (cause his father was our co-sponsor)
9. If the child that I'm pregnant with is his
10. How is my family accepting the fact that I'm moving to a different continent (when I said they are ok with it, but that they are crying alot, especially my dad cause I was always more attached to him the consul smiled and said: "awww, too bad for him" lol)
11. Where and when did we get married
12. How many times have we visited each other
I was a bit nervous during the interview but all in all, everything went ok.
At the end he said: "Ok, your good... have fun in America".
Even though I had pictures, chat logs and stuff like that with me, they didn't ask for any of it.
They told me to sit down again and my visa was ready and in my passport in like 10 minutes.
All in all, my experience with the US Embassy in Zagreb was awesome.
