Rating: | Review Topic: K1 Visa
I got there at about 7 am, gurad looked at my invitation letter, they took my phone, scanned my body, and gave me 2 numbers, I was called the first time to submit my birth certificate and passport to an Egyptian woman who asked me a few questions:
- How did you meet your fiance?
- For how long have you been together?
- Was he married before?
- Did you have an official engagement at church?
then told me to sit down and wait again, 30 minutes later an American woman took my biometrics and told me to wait again for my interview.
My name was called again for the last time, 2 men were there, I think one is a trainee since he just watched, the man who interviewed me was in his 30es, married, and very funny.
He started with 'Hey, Goodmorning!, can you please show me the DHL and bank receipt? (I kept looking through my huge bag, and I was like sorry it's just so small, and he was like oh yea it's pretty small, it's okay take your time! I then found it.
then he said : I've a couple of questions for you!'
- How did you meet your fiance?
- For how long have you been together?
- Do you call him Joseph, or Scott (his middle name)? I said I call him Joe :P
- When did you decide to meet?
- When did he visit you? and the second time? How long did he stay? How often did you meet then?
- When do you plan to get married?
- What does he do? what does his company initials stand for? (I didn't know)
He said 'Very good!' after each answer, I felt like I'm in KG :P
He then said everything looks very good and he has no reason to not approve me and he was like, listen, I'll approve you right away! Congratulations! Have a nice wedding! You'll get your visa in 2 weeks. I kept thanking him. )
He didn't ask to look at my evidence and I didn't even offer.
Overall experince is really good, the US embassy in Cairo was always so responsive and reliable!
