Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

Overall it was a much better experience than we had expected.
The worst part was probably the wait before our interview.
We were about 10 minutes early for our 9:00 appointment, however
we weren't called into our interview until about 9:30. It was
kind of frustrating that there were no clocks and you cannot
use a cell phone while you were waiting, so you feel like you
are sitting there all nervous forever with no track of time.

The interview itself was relatively painless. Our officer seemed
to have a very good understanding of our case. He asked general
questions about how we met, how long we dated, what our wedding
was like, and looked like he already knew the answers (which he
probably did because it was all in our file)

Evidence-wise all we really brought were photos, a scrapbook I made
for our first anniversary, a joint bank statement, and cards from
relatives. He asked if my husband had his student visa from going
to school in Canada, or his passport to see the stamps from going
back and forth, and we didn't even think to bring those. He did happen
to have his student ID though and the officer looked at that. We also could
have brought our joint taxes from 2009 but didn't think to bring that
either. He photocopied some of our pictures and didn't even look at
the cards, saying they are not very good evidence (which is understandable,
I guess anyone could go out and buy a bunch of cards).

He approved me on the spot and said that if my greencard doesn't arrive
within 2 weeks to come back and get a stamp in my passport. I asked if
he could do the stamp right away because I was hoping to visit my family
asap, and he did so that was nice.

He said that most of their job is reading people's body language so
my best advice is to try to relax and if you are there for the right
reasons, they will be able to tell.
