Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

We got to the US Embassy 15 minutes before like suggested. We had to wait outside for a few minutes. It was a bit unorganized outside with the guards and different lines for different visas. There were only 2 other people apart from us there for their IR-1/CR-1 interview. After the security and bag check we entered the main building where they offer citizen services and visa interviews. The work/travel visa interviews are given in these little booths--the interviewees essentially stand while they're interviewed. The Immigrant Visa interviews are conducted in a separate room where you sit down. First there is a document review and then we waited for an hour for our actual interview. It was pretty upsetting because they told us that we were missing 2 documents. The NVC had sent us the checklist saying everything was fine and I had double checked several times. The document reviewer said we would still have our actual interview, which of course was good, but hard because after they let you have the bad news it's like "hey! now your interview!" The document interviewer asked for our evidence of a relationship--we brought about 100 photos and had a portfolio of things like our lease, our pet's certificates, wedding invitations, etc. The woman gave us a weird face and said "This is a lot. Just give me a few photos." When we had the interview the lady barely looked at them and asked about 5 questions. "How did you meet?" "What do you plan on doing in the US?" "Are you a resident in Argentina?" (Directed to me.) And some other simple stuff. We were both allowed to answer the question and when we were done she gave us a letter/checklist explaining what documents we had to bring back to the Embassy. When done she said "Congratulations." We brought the documents in a week later and about 10 days later we picked up my husband's passport from DHL with his visa. Apart from the missing documents, everything was super chill and not stressful. Advice: hold hands or kiss or something. When we held hands the woman looked at us and smiled.
