I, my wife (the interviewee) and my parents got there at 7:30 AM and got in line. the rude security gaurds outside tried shoo us non-interviewees out of the line, but we triumphed and stayed on till she got to the front of the line (at about 7:50 or so). They checked her interview letter and passport and then security frisked her and she was in.
now the account inside from my wife:
At the security check area , the lady opened all envelopes, sealed it ,sent me inside .
I was asked to wait at a corner seat after an elderly lobby assistant collected my interview letter .By 9:30 An Indian consulate officer called me to counter and started pre screening . He asked when did i get married and asked for my wedding invite .
Asked to write my name in mother tongue in DS230 and asked to sign it.
He asked what my husband does there , how many siblings do i have .When i told him i have a younger brother he asked what does he do . He also asked how many siblings my husband had and if they are married and where do they live.
He checked all the documents which VSC had sent and returned some copies which he didnt need . He went through the pics and asked me if they are of my engagement , for which i told no and they are of my wedding . He asked me if i carried more for which i said no . I explained him that my wedding in september was a simple ceremony as my great granny passed away in august . He was making note of all these in a notepad . I showed him the big album which i was carrying from my december wedding ceremony . He asked for the medical report .I passed the full packet with the xray for which he said he only needs one sheet that has the main report .He also asked where did my husband work and how long did he stay after the wedding and how many visits he made . I told him my husband is here for my interview. He asked me to go to counter number 1 for finger print and gave me a pink slip with the token number and also said all the best and another counselor will call me for the interview .
I went to counter number 1 and gave my finger prints and came back before counter 9 where i had the pre screening and started waiting . So from 9:45 i was sitting there till 11:20 when the chubby looking counselor called my token number. He made me take the oath .Questions he asked me
1) How did u meet your husband
2)Who initiated the conversation ( as we met on Jeevansathi )
3) Who was running the online match making for me ( i answered it was me who was looking after that )
4) When did we meet and how long was he here after the wedding .
5) Asked me whether there was any issues during my September wedding as he heard it from the other guy . I told him there was no issues , excpet my granny died and we had a simple ceremony in September and my husband and family came back in decmeber for a bigger ceremony .
6) Where did we go for honeymoon ? As i told him my husband was here for a month in decmeber we went to Jaipur , he asked was it pink and is that the place which is famous for the lake palace . Told him no and described Jaipur a bit .
7) He asked about my husbands other visits to India and was he here for the interview and why ? i told him that my husband was here in April for a week and was here to support me .Also told him that my inlaws are there.
8) He asked how did my husband immigrated to the states . I told him his father went first and the family followed .
9) he asked how my dad in law immigrated ? I told that it was his brother who sponsored him.
10) what was my highest qualification and what do i intend to work as there in US? I told him i am a graduate and is working with IBM . He asked me to explain my work profile .
And then the Golden words Your Visa is approved ...........
Before calling me to the counter i saw him going through the pictures and the form VSC had sent the embassy . He returned my original birth certificate ,marriage certificate and wedding invite .
