Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

Appointment was NOT Cherry Hill, but at the Mount Laurel, NJ office at 530 Fellowship Road. (Mount Laurel is not in the drop down menu).

The appointment was at 10 and we left our home just 7 miles away at 9:10 to ensure we'd be on time. Good thing we did. Something (no one yet knows what) happened to the 1993 BMW 325i as we were proceeding at speed on 73North. Their was a sound like a tire blowing, then a slow-motion 360 spin until a sudden stop onto the curb. No one was hurt only understandably shaken. We grabbed a cab, my Mom stayed with the car to cal a wrecker, and off we went to our appointment just a mile more down the road.

We arrived on time and did not have to wait. The entire interview took about 20 minutes.

Our interviewer was a lovely, well-dressed woman who never gave us her name so we'll call her Ann. She led us to the back, administered and oath to tell the truth, and we sat. She didn't ask a lot of questions. The standard 'are you a terrorist and do you run drugs across the border?" questions were asked.

My wife was asked where we met and how long we'd dated. I was asked if I liked my in-laws. She took my EAD card and AP paper, wrote"I-485 approved pending card production" "CR6" and NCN-MTZ 180" on page 9 of my passport, and stamped todays date. Then she gave us a letter as to my 'conditional permanent residence' status telling how we would have to file for permanent residence status on form I-751 between 9 Mar 2012 and 6 June 2012. I should have my green card in about 2 weeks.

She did ask if we had an attorney, as our paperwork was in such good order! She said that most people are not organized at all - and that dealing with us and all our paperwork was a pleasure! (We had all our documents in clear 9x11 'sleeves' in a 3 ring binder, with an index for finding them quickly. In the binder pockets we had the forms too large to fit in the sleeves, and we also had a large pocket file with all our 'bonafide' info (pictures, affidavits)and extra copies of all paperwork we had submitted).

After our interview we went home and took our pictures next to the wrecked car. It's a great day.
