Review: Part 1 : More | Part 2: My Exp
For "More" go to http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Consular_Interview_Questions
Mine:
1. Reached at the Delhi Embassy gate at 8:30a.so i got in bcz my reporting time was 9a. yes ppl, the time written on our letters is the reporting time and not the interview time! and you are allowed to enter only half hour before, i mean at the first line of the embessay
2. Gate 1 | you go inside and have your documents scanned (on left).
3. Gate 2 | you open the door, look immediate right, there is a vending machine, and a woman sitting behind it, stand in the line, and tell her its immigrant visa, keep your appointment letter ready, she will print out a token "J ##" and stick it to your letter.
4. then you look 11 O'clock and see a passage. walk across and see a bilding, ask the sentry and he will tell you to go at the end of the building , that's gate 3. Enter, and ask the sentry where to go for 'pukka visa/immigrant visa". look in front of you, see a long hall, walk.
5. first hall | you will see a big hall, see left, see a line going in for "fingerprinting", if you are lucky someone will yell who is in for immigrant visa" and you go first in the line. else you can ask the person at standing near the window. he would be helper sorts, wearing an ID.
6. then he will tell you where to go. look 10 O'clock and you will see a small narrowish corridor of sorts and token numbers with "J##" blinking in red. that where you go and sit on the chair and wait for your number to appear.
7. verification window | the person would ask you similar questions, about :
who is sponsoring you | what is the name of your sponsor | what does he do | when did you meet | what do you do | ask for any missing documents | and asks you to go deposit the fee and bring him back the receipts (both copies) and keeps your passport.
8. then you go back and sit down, pull out a book to read, and wait for your number to appear again in red to go for the main interview. generally at window 22 or 23. it may be anything between 1-3 hours.
9. window 22 | the American female CO speaks Hindi and would like it if you answer her in Hindi too. She is very nice, and very cool. Be smiling. She asked me:
1. why did you get divorced. what was my ex's name. the time line of my previous marriage, time i left him, filed for divorce, and got legally divorced.
2. then she asked about my current relationship time line, told her where we met, when we met, and how things have been since.
3. then she asked me show her some pictures. and then she asked why we were not getting married in India, and then she said that my visa was approved and it would reach me in 7 days. she gave me this little booklet as a take home souvenir.
And this is it, my happy days's story
let me know if you have any questions.
