Santa Ana CA | Review on May 21, 2010: | John and Camie
Rating: | Review Topic: Adjustment of Status
-Security was lovely, which makes a change from Biometrics.
-No mobile phones; one man was sent back to his car for bringing one in.
-Have your I.D. at the ready (passport for hubby, driver's license for me).
-Quick security when we arrived; when we left at 10:20, there was a queue.
-Took elevator to the 2nd floor.
-Showed security our letter, then slipped letter into the window at the front.
-Sat down, waited to be called.
-Appointment was for 9:30, didn't see our IO until 10.
-IO was polite and to-the-point. Swore us in, then sat us down.
-IO asked for our I.D.
-IO asked John if he was a terrorist, etc. and I tried not to laugh.
-IO confirmed our address and phone. John repeated them to prove he knew them, so cute.
-IO grilled me about my prior live-in boyfriend, and whether I was with him when I knew John. Yep, but at that time, John and I were good, platonic mates. He had been planning to visit me and my then-boyfriend when my then bf had his heart attack. At the hospital, a week before John was to arrive, I met my bf's other girlfriend. Then-boyfriend immediately became ex-boyfriend. John still came down, put the smile back on my face, and we stayed mates until we became more over a few months. IO kept one hell of a poker face throughout my explanation. LOL.
-IO asked what we do in our spare time.
-IO asked about our families, and had I been to England. Yes I had, and I didn't want to leave. But I didn't dare tell her that!
-I had an updated Affidavit w/2009 transcript, but she didn't ask for it.
-IO already had our photo collage, joint documents, proof and etc. from our petition, and asked us if there was anything else. We gave her a copy of our Disneyland Annual Passports and another letter from my mother-in-law.
-IO smiled when she learned she was one day older than John and said we were approved.
-IO explained ROC after two years.
-IO walked us out to the copier and asked us about our weekend. We told her we were going to the Weekend of Horrors convention, and she asked us if we saw the new Nightmare On Elm St. We told her that we went to the midnight preview, LOL. She laughed and said we were dedicated horror fans, and we pretty much confirmed for her that we were pretty loved up. And a couple of nerds.
We ended up parking in the lot next to 34 Civic Plaza, took cash from the ATM inside ($3 service fee) and paid at the ticket machine before heading out. It was $3.75, small potatoes for a whole lot of happy happy, 'cause I get to keep my Jonafun!
