Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

Our interview was at 1:30pm, but to make sure we got in on time, we arrived at 12:45pm. We brought a photo album, our file (copies and originals of everything we submitted for our AOS) along with a scrapbook that we had. Since we only had one asset that we had together (our bank account), we had to make sure that we brought things that could prove we were in a valid relationship.

We went through the back of the building where there were two very nice security guards. We emptied our pockets to make sure the detector didn\'t go off, and then asked where Room 106 was. The officers let us know to go and drop off our letter in Room 156, which was across the hall, so that we could check in. Then we headed to Room 106, which is a pretty spacious waiting room. There were about three other couples before us, which I\'m guessing was there for their 1:00pm interview. Since we were there early, we waited about an hour (so about 15 minutes after our actual appointment was scheduled) until we were finally called.

We were then called by a very nice man, who greeted us & took us down this corridor. When we got to his office, before we sat down, he swore us in and we took an oath. He then asked us for all our id\'s -- passport, EAD, AP. After that, he looked through our file, made sure our information was correct and asked me the YES/NO questions. He then continued to look through our file, as asked us:

- How did we meet?
- Where did you get married?
- Who was at your wedding?
- What joint things do we have together?

... and then before I knew it, he was stamping \"Approved\" on my file, and asking me if I had any questions. He then let me know about the conditional status, and how I\'ll be needing to apply for it in about two years, along with the fact that I\'ll be eligible for citizenship in three years. (YAY!) He also said to keep & save evidence of our relationship so that we can send it as proof when we file for Lifting Conditions. He then said I\'ll be getting it within the week or so. YAY!

Note: if you\'re heading to the interview, my pieces of advice would be:
1) bring originals and copies of your originals, copies of the AOS file you submitted, anything joint that you have with your spouse.
2) be yourself! Relax and just think of it as talking about your relationship to a boss or friend.
3) Smile! You\'ll be just fine.
