Interview date 11th May 2010. I , the US citizen husband, accompanied my wife.
Stayed overnite at the Hyatt, which is abt 15 minutes drive from the consulate. Left the hotel at 8 am for our 8 45 am interview. Small line of people waiting to get in. The security guards asked if we were there for an Immigrant Visa. Went through security and once we got past through it my wife was given a token number and we both went inside and were finally in the comfort of an air conditioned building. ( You just can`t help but feel sorry for all the non immigrant visa applicants , who are made to sit outside under a shed with a few lousy fans till they are called inside for their interview. )
Anyways, once inside, my wife had her fingerprints done. For that you dont have to wait for your number to display on the board. After the fingerprints , we were sent to the far side of the hall , where they have a small area marked " Immigrant visa applicants". Waited for her number to be displayed and it was time for document collection. The Indian lady was nice and polite. She just went through the file which was sent from the NVC. Everything was in order, except that I had forgotten to fill out my wife`s name in her native language in one of the biographic forms pages. So she had that filled by us and asked us to wait for our number to be called again.
About an hr later we were called for the interview at window number 22. The lady was speaking hindi and had a funny accent which was hard to follow. She asked me if I was the husband and then asked us both to take the oath that everything we say is gonna be the truth. Here`s the questions , which were all directed to my wife. I just stood there .

Is this your husbands first marriage
What`s your ex husbands name
Whats his ex wife`s name
Year of your first marriage, his first marriage,your divorce and his divorce
How did you meet
When did you first meet each other
Why did you get divorced, why did he get divorced.
How does he treat you??? :-)

At this point I asked her if she wants to see the wedding pictures or the others. She says "ALL"
I slipped her an envelope with abt 50 pictures from our recent trip to London. She quickly flipped through them and meanwhile my wife was ready to flip through the wedding album , to which she said , I dont need to see those.
Your visa has been approved , you will get your passport in about a week.
