Long story short
I got to the embassy about 8 and was sat down with my number ready to go! Security was a breeze and the line moved quite quickly! Plus it was nice and sunny out so it didn't bother me waiting
At approximately 8:50 I got called up to window 14 and was met by a very nice American woman from Virginia! (We had a bit of small talk half way through and she told me!) She requested my interview letter and my passport, she quickly checked over them and then took my fingerprints. She then requested my birth certificate +copy and my police certificate. She then pulled my file which contain all the stuff my fiancée had sent in plus all the documents I had sent in from packet 3, a quick check over these and she requested my affidavit of support which she went through and picked out the bits she needed (She was impressed with the amount my fiancée had provided lol! But she just picked one item of each and gave me the rest back!)
I then went to pay for my visa at window 12, i think, it cost me around £80 which wasnt too bad i thought. I then went back to #12 handed her the receipt and she gave me a courier form to fill in while i waited for my interview. I collected my stuff and said farewell to the nice American lady and sat back down...! This took about 10-15 minutes and was really easy!
So at about 9:15 i got called up to window #16 I was gearing myself up on my little walk up there "You can do it John! Don't say anything stupid!!!" So i got there and was greeted by an older looking American man who was very pleasant with me. I said my oath and took more fingerprints and then he handed me one of the forms from packet 3 and I had to write my fiancées full name and sign my name and then he asked me how long i knew my fiancée for and i told him and he asked what it took so long for me to pop the big question! (cheeky little...) So i said that we were both too young and we had to go through university etc first but afterwards i knew what i wanted to do...he was like "awww thats so romantic!!"
Then he said the all important phrase "Well ive been sitting here looking through all of your documents and I don't see any problems so im just going to go ahead and approve this right now..." I was like O_O really? He was like yup! and then a big grin just came across my face :D he then proceeded to explain to me about the envelope and not to open it and to have a great life!
"Welcome to the United States of America son!" Was like weeeeeeeeeeee !! Haha
Paid for my courier and that was it i was out the door and approved! It must have been around 9:30ish I wasnt in there for very long at all All the staff were really pleasant and it was such a great experience!
Till next time !!!
