Thumbs up to the Montreal consulate!
I went in really early, extremely nervous. Sat in the waiting room with a 3 other ladies who were getting their K1 visa that day. Only waited about 15 minutes before being called to a window. The woman took all my documents, didn't speak, just looked everything over. After a couple minutes of this she asked me to go sit down and wait to be called. Waited about 10 minutes, she called me back and asked me where my RCMP police background check was. Horror! I realised I had forgotten it! She told me to go sit down, I could probably send it in or bring it the next day or something. Sat down again, waited about 20 minutes, was called to a tiny little room seperated in two by a thick glass wall. A nice young man asked me a couple questions (where did you meet, when, how, etc) and then told me everything was in order. I asked him about my background check, told him I lived litteraly two blocks away from the consulate. He gave me a little pass to allow me back into the consulate and I ran home to get my papers. Came back quickly, gave him the documents, and what do you know, I got my K1 visa the very next day! Never in my wildest dreams could i have expected it to be so easy.
