First I have to say I didn't have a watch so all the times are approximate. I was first in line. I wasn't sleeping anyway so I got there at about 6:30 - 6:45. Not sure exactly how long until the next person arrived but by about 7:30 there were 15-20 people I think. The front of the line people were very friendly and we were all talking. The guard came around 7:30 and unlocked the door. I was first through security and when they scanned my bag they noticed I had those singing greeting cards as evidence and the guard had me take them out and gave me a receipt for returning it but not before opening and joking about the cards . So don't bring those as evidence... I didn't even think about it.

Then it was to the elevators to wait. I got letter A since I was first in line. The elevator came down after maybe 10 minutes and the first letters were called up. The guard directed us as to which door would open... and of course it was teh one at the back of the elevator. Then we took our seats waiting to be called up.

I was called first and went down the hall to the room with the windows. I went straight to the window and the lady was there. She was really nice and started asking for my documents. It turns out I was missing a police certificate from Japan. She said they would have to have it in order to get my visa. Then sent me to pay the fee and come back with the receipt. When I brought it back I was fingerprinted and asked to go back to the waiting room.

Back in the waiting room the people waiting were understanding and empathetic about the missing document. When my name was called I went to the interview room and the guy in there was really nice too. He had me raise my right hand and swear that everything was the truth etc. Then he asked where we met and how long Kevin has been in the military. He also had some standard questions about if I'd ever had trouble at the border or if I had ever been in trouble with the police or anything like that. Both of which the answers were no. Then he explained further about what the process would be to get the police check from japan and how to send it in and how long it would take to get my visa after that.

And that was it. I was finished by 9:20 am. The waiting room and the line up outside were very busy and full by that time. Then it was back to the hotel to call Kevin and tell him how it went.
