We set off for London from Birmingham on Thursday. I had booked a nights stay at the Millenium Mayfair Hotel which is about 100 yards from the Embassy. Nice hotel but not cheap! We started our morning early so we could have a bite to eat before our 9am appointment. We got in the queue about 8.20 and made our way up to the visa section. Our number was I864 and the time on the sticker was 8.37. We walked in and sat and even though I had read that there would be tons of N numbers called I was still a little shocked by the number of them that came and went while we waited! We sat for about 2 hours when they called Johns number. We got the nice asian lady as window #1. It was VERY hard to hear her but we chatted a bit and I finally felt a little more at ease after having talked to her. She took the normal paper work, police certificates, I-134, birth certificates, and photos. Asked about the company I worked at because they were vendors for the Embassy as well. Took Johns finger prints after having to try a few times but in the end it was sorted. Told us to take a seat and we would be called up shortly. Shortly was an understatement! We sat down for about 10 min at most before our number was called again. Off we went around the corner to window #15 and it was a nice young blonde woman. She asked John how we met, when we met, when he was planning on traveling, and when the wedding was. She asked me where I lived and I told her...she was from Minnesota so we did a little mid western bonding She asked me if either of us had been married and I told her I had and asked about the kids. Asked where I worked. I think she asked me more questions than she did John! It took less than 5 min. She said well everything looks good and that she was approving the visa. She advised John that it would take 3-5 business days for the visa and her schpele about the brown envelope. I think I actually said "wooo hooo" and did a little dance as we walked away. Someone was laughing...but I didn't care! I am SO glad that it was done. All in I was glad that I was be able to go with John. I think we were out the door by 11 so it didn't take long at all.
