A CLASS ACT! I am writing this on behalf of "my faithful little Englishman," but I was there to witness it myself. I was very pleased that the US Embassy let me accompany him through the interview process, and all I had to do was present my US passport upon entry. The process itself is very orderly ("Please take a number and have a seat"), and the constant feedback from the electronic display, showing which numbers were getting service, was very comforting. We were first called up to surrender our required documents (birth certificate, police report, divorce papers, I134) and then returned to our seats in the waiting room. Shortly after, we were called up again for the interview. The interviewer was very warm and smiled often. She acknowledged my presence and graciously requested that I remain silent during the interview. She asked my fiance details about how we met, when, and how often, and then it was over. Even the courier service for the delivery of the visa was about as warm and professional as you could want.
CAUTION!! Make sure that your paperwork is in order before scheduling your interview, and check and recheck to make sure that you have EVERYTHING that is necessary for it. Otherwise, your experience will be less pleasant.
ANOTHER THING!! Watch out for the mistakes of others! You might do your paperwork correctly and still have someone at border patrol or at the bank drop the ball and place you in a potential pool of **** (i.e., a I94W form inadvertently left in a passport following a visit to the US; a bank clerk not giving you the EMBASSY's copy of your receipt for your visa fee...)
