I went to Naples the evening of the Valentines day because on monday i would attend the medicals and on tuesday the interview.
I've found a nice, cheap and cozy B&B close the Mergellina's station, so less than a quarter mile from the Cosnulate. They reserved me the taxi for the next day, at 7.20 am, to go to the Istituto Varelli (7 euros ride). Blood exam done, medical interview, visit, two shots (tetanus and MMR) and chest x-ray, at 10 am I was out of there and i've spent the morning to make a tour of Naples (first time for me there). The afternoon has been like a nightmare: I've controlled several times all the papers and i was in fear that something could gro wrong (I believe in Murphy), during the night i couldn't sleep well at all and as i went out the B&B surely I seemed a guy sent to the death row.
At 8.30 am i was at the main entrance of the Consulate. They say you can't bring any electronic with you, but, for example, if you have a phone you can leave it at the entrance. They gave me the n. 4 and I went to the second floor.
All the procedure has been really easy: they will ask you the documents you need one by one (you need only 2 pictures 5x5, not 4 as they tell you when you take the appointment) will also ask you to swear you will tell the truth and they are really friendly. Checked all your papers, taken your fingerprints they ask you to go to seat because the Consular Officier will come for the interview.
Also the interview is taken thru a window, they ask you briefly how you met, how many times you have been in the USA, if you have lived out of Italy, if you remained in the USA more than 90 days, but always in a really fair way, then they give you the appointment after 5 pm at a local MBE office to pick up your passport and the documents. To pick up your documents you will have to pay 6,20€ and if you can't wait the 5 pm (I couldn't because I had the last bus to come back home at 5.30 pm) they can send it at your home by an express courier (for me has been DHL)
So I can tell you that my experience has been very good, also if a little bit nerve wrecking, but this for my fault, surely not for them.
