I went with my fiance to the interview. We arrived at 5:30 am for a 7:00 appointment and were 2nd in line. Didn't matter much as they let us in first and we were continually first in line since I am a USC! After going through security (make sure you have your interview letter handy since they ask for it at least 5 times) we were taken to the waiting room. We were called up pretty quickly to turn in our paperwork. The lady at that window was Kenyan and everything went ok except she made him fill out an additional form (just a copy of one he already had...) and was kind of cranky. We sat down to wait for biometrics.

I'm pretty sure that would have gone quickly, but the machines were down so for 3 hours we waited for those to be fixed. Once they were up and running we went up & he was fingerprinted. We sat back down expecting a long wait for the interview, but we were called almost immediately!

Interview was with an American man, he was very nice. Fiance was asked to raise his right hand and swear to tell the truth. He was asked when we met, what kind of work he plans to do in the US, and what kind of work he does in Kenya. Then the CO asked if we had any pictures of the 2 of us together. I had brought 10 pictures - he flipped through them very quickly, then said everything looked good in the application and that the visa takes about a week to process. He gave us a yellow slip of paper with an appointment time on it a week later to pick up his passport with visa! Whole interview took maybe 5 minutes.

Fiance went back on his own a week later (I had already flown back to the states) and was given a bit of hassle at the gate - the appointment time was 3:00 pm, he arrived at 2:30 and was asked why he was late. He showed the yellow slip that said 3:00 and was told that if you are there to pick up a visa at 3:00 you need to be there at 1:45 (???) But they let him in and he had the visa within a few minutes!

All in all a pretty painless process!
