Finally my turn to do a review and I'm happy to say I'm doing it with a smile on my face The only reason I gave them a four is beause I was there from eight thirty to two... and it was the most nerve-wracking time of my life. The place is crowded, and it's so hot and stuffy... and one point, due to that and nerves I'm assuming, I really thought I was going to throw up but thankfully it passed somehow, and we made it through. We got called to window thirteen for the first time at about 10:45 and the woman took all of our documents and proceeded to ask the basic questions they ask everyone about how we met... when and where, etc. Unfortunately, I had made an error with the DS-156, but she was really nice about it and told me I could just go outside to fix it and then come back with a new one... so we did... and unfortunately it cost us 20 soles because those thieves outside the embassy charge 3 soles per page to print documents but i really didn't care at that point. We came back and left the documents at the window. We had just sat down when she called us back up because we somehow forgot to sign them hahaha... i swear, i barely knew my own name at that point. i was SO nervous, and i'm not even a nervous person. Well, long story about the horrific wait made short, they finally called us for our interview at door 15 at about 1:30. By that point I was about to pass out, but the man was much nicer than I thought he would be. People had been in that room for up to 30 min, so I was terrified. He asked me first how many times a year I go to Peru and how long I stay each time. The he asked my fiance about his denied tourist visa, and Jorge explained why he had applied for the tourist visa, and the guy was really nice about it... I'm assuming because he understands that everyone and their mother get denied that stupid tourist visa. Then, he stamped the DS-156K, asked Jorge to do the digital fingerprints, and then asked him to raise his right hand to swear all the information was true. At that point I was shaking and fighting to hold back my tears beause I knew for sure we had been approved... then he handed us the pink slip and said congratulations ))) I barely made it outside the door before I completely lost it and just sat down and cried while Jorge paid the DHL fee. I have never been so relieved in my whole entire life.
Bottom line, I wish I hadn't freaked out so much. Yes, easier said than done, but it really was not a big deal. Everyone that dealt with us was nice and understanding. Just make sure you have all the correct documents and have everything in order, and it will save you a lot of time and heartache. And he didn't even look at our pictures or emails.... at least what I could tell. However, we both got the impression that they had already made up their minds to give us the visa before we even went in there... but whatever, we got it!! good luck guys!
