My Interview Experience (MANILA) DECEMBER 10, 2009 at 7am

I woke up at 1am and couldn' t fall back asleep , finally got out of bed at 3:30am just opened my laptop to review the questionnaire that my husband prepared for me and took out some of my clothes in the suitcase and put them on the bed to see which one should I wear for the interview. I did a few mix and match and finally decided what to wear and then I started to get ready. And my husband was bothered coz I was fixing the lamp light and turning it on and off hmm so he also finally got out of bed and started to get ready.

We stayed at the Bayview Hotel across the street from the US embassy. I was looking from our room window to see if there’s a line. It was still dark and nobody was there. Finally my husband and I walked a crossed the street at 5:30am.

We checked in with the guard and told us to prepare the "Interview Letter or NVC letter since we only have the print out of the confirmation of our interview by email and also handed a valid ID ( u can present any id as long as its valid like "NBI or Postal ID" ). And if you are also accompanied by your partner or husband like I did, the guard will ask him to present there "US Passport").

REMINDER: (Very important thing don't bring cell phones or any other electronic gadgets like IPODs, Laptops, USB etc. And some liquids like bottled of water ) Much better just leave all your gadgets at the hotel where u stayed and put it in the safety deposit box cause there’s no good place for u to leave all your stuff once u get there at Us embassy.

Btw After the guard checked our stuff we finally get seated with all the applicants scheduled for 6:30 and 7am. They lined us up in groups of 5, then walked into Gate 2 through the security check. And once we got inside the guard guided us to two windows with some Filipina lady inside, and I had to prepare the requirements they would need for K3 since I am with k3 visa, u have to submit “"poof of payment"” and “two copies of your Ds-156 and Ds-157 don't leave any blanks in your application forms, make sure it’s all answered or u can put None or N/A for not applicable, submit with your "Interview confirmation Letter" also. And I proceed directly to the next window a Filipina lady will verify your applications if it’s all answered correctly and check if you have any questions that are not answered or not filled out. ALL QUESTIONS MUST BE COMPLETED, finally the lady gave me my number 700xx. And we seated and waited our number to be flashed on the screen.

So we waited for like less than 15mins my name was called in window 16, we stood in line there were 7 people ahead of me, finally my turn and did my finger printing (rub your hands to add heat and so that there’s no moist before u do the scanning). The Filipina lady will ask two questions (what’s your name?” and your birthday?) And after the scanning I went back to my seat and waited for my number to be flashed again on the screen for the pre screener.

10 minutes later our number flashed on the screen. We went to the window, there was a Filipina lady who did pre screening. She had our application in her hand and asked a few questions (not in order):
* What’s your name?
* What’s your husband's name?
* How did you meet? How many times your husband visited?
* do you have emails, pictures, etc.?
* do you have birth cert, marriage cert, NBI clearance?

Reminder: Make sure to Sign your DS-156 with date

* Give affidavit of support (only one copy)
* is this your first marriage?
* do you have kids?

She said go wait, for your number and Good luck!!.

Now I’m feeling more nervous but I’m lucky my husband is with me the whole time sitting next to me and trying to make me feel calm, and 30 minutes later our number flashed again and we are assigned to go to window 28. There was a Filipina lady assisted us and explain when you enter the room there’s two windows 27 and 28, you have to wait because there is still person inside after his finished u both can go inside. So the guy from window 28 is finally done, my husband and I went inside for the final interview (A white young American guy about 28 says “Magandang Umaga “with a smile on his face.) I feel a little comfortable because he looks in a good mood and happy. He had in front of him our complete application including my passport and USCIS I-129F package that my husband submitted in US. I was happy because I haven’t seen my passport since the St. Luke took it away from me after I had my medical about a month ago, Im glad they forwarded it . So the consulate started asking me questions.

Co: So who is this guy with you?
Co: What is your full maiden name?
Co: When is your wedding anniversary?

I was a little bit stupid answering the two next questions I happened to mentioned my mom’s maiden name LOL, and confused the month and date of our wedding anniversary funny thing my husband is with me and tapped me on my leg and says “ Honey your maiden full name when u are still single? My husband tapped me twice when I also confused the month and date of our wedding day also saying again “Honey our wedding day??” glad I woke up LOL and I corrected and we both just laughed about it including the consul.

Co: I have seen you applied for F1 student visa before and got denied? Which is no problem to me because I met my wife way back when she was on her student visa too. So u both just wanted to be close huh? (*he smiled*)

I feel comfortable after that hmmm a good sign…
Then after that he asked a few questions to my husband.

Co: So you’re from Michigan?
Co: I’m from Michigan too (hmm good thing the consul is from Michigan too *another sign*). yay!!

Then after that he said one moment * looking on his the computer* after a few seconds he said Ok your application looks good and there’s no problem your visa is “APPROVED Welcome to United States. And he even asked us so how many kids you both plan to have?? And gives us a smile and after he explained us to go directly to Air21 to pay the visa. THANK GOD!!
My husband and I are so happy after waiting for more than 4 years we are finally moving on the next step. We will be building our family together Thanks to God for giving us this opportunity.

We give the consul a BIG THANK YOU and a BIG SMILE… and we finally got out of the cubicle room looking so happy, it took us 10mins to do the interview we had so much fun with the consul he was very nice and friendly they had a nice conversation with my husband.
So we waited until our number flashed on the screen again and went to a different window and the Filipina lady give us a form to fill out for the visa delivery and give us the most famous PINK SLIP attached . So we went to the Air21 booth and fill out the form there and paid 220 PHP only. Finally we are free to go home it was 8:15am yay!! It was quick!!

It was a very nice experience to share, hope this will help… And Good luck to all!!! God be with us always..
