Review Topic: K1 Visa

Our interview was on November 12th originally. One week before, we were having troubles with scheduling and I emailed the consulate to ask what the possibilities are of rescheduling. They replied to my fiancee that the next available date was January 14th, 2009. This was horrible for us. Having to push it back by two months. However, on Sunday December 6th, I sent an email to the consulate again asking if there was any openings for earlier interviews. The next morning they replied no, there was nothing they could do. Two hours after that email they called my fiancee and said, "Can you come tomorrow? Are you ready?" She eagerly replied yes.

The very next day she went bright and early to the consulate. Got it in, payed the fee and waited 2 hours. Was called once to hand over the data our lawyer had filled out for us and was called again for the actual interview.

The first question asked when they sat down was,

"Tell me about the overstay."

For reasons known to all involved parties, my gal overstayed her student visa.
The interviewer then proceeded to tell her it makes her ineligible to receive a visa and they discussed the situation further. She explained what happened.

We had a mountain of evidence. Packets prepared by lawyers. Senators on hand email the consulate when I asked. We had everything. He glanced over a couple of pictures and said tell me about him. They had a very casual conversation about the relationship and he let my fiancee just tell our story.

The interview itself took 20 min. He told her he needed a few days to check with homeland security and that he would call her in a couple of days. Our interview was on Tuesday and he called her to pick up the visa on Thursday.
She was busy and could not get the visa Thursday, so she is going to pick it up on Friday (tomorrow if you read this soon enough).

Overall the consulate responded whenever I emailed but did not answer the phone once when I called during the listed times to call. Our interviewer was an American man. My gal made the observation that all the women in CASA got the visa while the men were not so lucky.
