I was really nervous, eventhough I know the Sydney consulate is pretty quick and painless. And thats exactly what it was.

I stayed overnight in a hotel close the Martin Place (It's called the Grand and it's a bit of a dive but it did it's job for one night). I woke up really early eventhough my appointment was at 11am. I ended up getting to the consulate at around 10:15, and they let me up straight away. There were a fair few people there so I waited for what seemed like ages, but maye half an hour before being called to a window and giving over my australia post receipt, envelope and passport. I chatted with the guy for a little bit and we did my fingerprints. He was pleasant and gave me an information sheet and my original documents back and asked me when was I planning on heading back to the states. Then he told me to take a seat and wait for my number to be called again for the interview. So I sat back down and read the information sheet and waited.

Again it felt like ages but probably only 10 minutes and i got called to another window. The lady was very nice. She made me take an oath and asked me questions like how many times have I been to the states and how long etc. She asked me what my fiance does and how we met and what our plans are for the wedding (she though getting married in the House of Blues was cool )Then she told me the visa was approved, got me to sign a sheet of paper and handed me a page that says "congratulations, your visa application is approved" which has the express post tracking number stuck on it (handy). Quick and painless! I should get the visa by the end of the week

Good luck to everyone awaiting their interviews! I know it's hard not to be nervous but so long as you have all your documents prepared, it's fairly straight forward
