how could i say this in just a few sentences..the look on the face of the immigration officer was that of an old guidance counselor and my wife and i were too old to be in school. not a happy smile for the arriving couple, us. i was worried, but not nervous. as we sat down with our lawyer present, he asked for photos and passports and proceeded to flip through them beyond pointlessly, looking for some odd part that didn't fit right. he actually mentioned that 'there needs to be negatives...do you have any negatives?' he asked. 'they could be digitally altered' i was speechless except for the "no" in the back of my throat that was forced out. it seemed we didn't bring enough evidence for him to give us a stamp that we both awaited anxiously for. not a question for my wife until the end when he asked her everything under the sun. that was it..nothing more, no questions, or 'i call you' or good luck with the rest...he wrote 'pending' and his name and badge #. or something. i don't care what it was, it was just that it wasn't the stamp or 'approved'. i was now nervous because now my wife is in limbo and there is not one answer that can make it all better except 'patience'..i went through every scenario with her as to why or to what happened. didn't help until this morning when i was emailed that the card is in production Friday the 16th of October, 2009. 4 months to the day when we walked into our lawyer's office. i am blessed, thankful and proud to be a part of this country. as redtape as it may have been, the emotions and tears were worth it for her and for me and for our family. i say welcome to those that are continuing this journey, via visa/passport or itinerary...just go forth in this life and bring your non digital camera with you. they may ask for the negatives.. best, Scott and Justine
