Great experience all around, minus a few minor communication issues. The immigrant visa unit staff were very helpful in expediting our interview after our 22-day holdup in AP @ NVC. We got the Packet 3 email on October 1, returned it the same day, and received the Packet 4 interview email on October 5 with an October 6 interview date—all this, mind you, with an intervening holiday weekend (Chuseok)!
The interview process was very straightforward. Intake now begins at 8 am, with doors opening at 7:30. We were first in line and took number 1 from the dispenser. We were called right around 8 to submit our documents through the window, then waited around quite a while to be called for fingerprinting (a consular officer came out to explain that the delay was due to computer issues). About 20 minutes after fingerprinting, we were called up for the interview. A very friendly African-American female CO swore us both in, then asked Elisha a couple quick questions (How did you meet? When did he propose?). She told us we were approved pending the clearance of final checks which normally take about 24 hours.
Sure enough, per my calls to the embassy, the fingerprint checks cleared October 7, the visa was printed and sent October 8, and we received it October 9.
