From day 1 the embassy in Amman has been extremely helpful, always answering all of our email questions. Although we never recieved our packet 3 from them, they were able to give us everything we needed to know via email. 
I was in Jordan to be at the interview with my habibi and we arrived at 6AM for our 7:30AM appt. The guards told us to wait accross the street, we were too early. At about 7:15AM we went to the "immigration line" and they sentus through security and they gave us a number, 5. We waited in the comfortable waiting room for about half an hour watching Lebanese TV. Then they called us to the window and asked for all of our documents. I had them neatly organized in clear plastic sleeves in a notebook. The girl asked who did this and then asked us to take everthing out of the notebook. She was very kind and sweet, and laughed with us. In fact, the mood in the waiting room was also very light. Lots of people laughing, kids around, and people not seeming nervous.
Next they sent us into another waiting room. There we had to wait much longer because the consulor didn't start work untill 9:30. Again, people were laughing and having fun. Kids were running around and we were all cooing over the cute kids. Someone came in and told us where to buy coffee and breakfast sweets. Finally the interviews began, and every single person in front of us came out smiling. Each interview lasted about 15 minutes or less, and there were 10 minutes or so in between each interview. When the man and woman in front of us came out, they told us, don't worry. He is so nice in there and it is very easy.
Finally they called our name and we went into the interviewing booth and shut the door. I asked him his name, and he said Dave. I asked him where he was from and he said Iowa. I asked him how long he had been working for state department and he said not very long. Then we began. Dave was so kind and he was funny too. He was young and he joked around with us. My Habibi was so impressed because although Dave spoke to us in English, he said certain things in Arabic and had the perfect Jordanian accent. He asked him the following questions:
1.) Who filled out the paperwork and petitioned for you to come to USA. His answer- My finace.
2.)Why does your I129F say you were never married and your embassy forms say you were married and you have a divorce certificate? His answer- it was more of an engagement and we did not know how to file it. Dave said, oh ok, no problem. Glad you brought the documents now.
3.) When do you plan to get married?
4.) Then he asked me- How do you like Jordan? I told him I loved it and it was my 3rd trip here and could I please show him pics? I pulled out my proof notebook and he looked at my boarding passes, my pictures, a few emails we had, and a letter from my mom. HE commented on the fact that I took a picture of the mansaf and we all laughed. Then he gave me my notebook back.
He looked at my support papers, BARELY. He just glanced through and asked us if we had any kids. Then he finger printed my Habibi and told us that everything looked good from the embassy side but that our case would have to be sent back to washington DC for AP and that it could take 2 weeks to 6 months. I asked if we were approved, and he said yes, from their side everythign was approved and good. I asked if we would have to have a second interview once AP was finished and he said no, we would just have to send the passport to the embassy via aramax and then they would give the visa and send it back.
Then we had to wait some more and we got called back again to the first girl but at a different window. She assured us that AP was normal and many men had to go through it. She asked him the name of his parents, his work for last 5 years, and the name of all his brothers and sisters and their birth year. While we were filing out the information with her, 2 more files got sent into her for AP forms. She gave us a paper with the website on it to check our AP by filling in his passport number. Less than 24 hours later we were able to check and it says pending. She told us once it says approved, we have to send the passport to them.
So we wait. Overall we really loved our embassy experience. They were so kind and so good, and we felt well taken care of.
