Our appointment was at 1:45 although we got there at about 1:00. That turned out to be a good thing as it took us 30 minutes to get in the building because of security. Once we did get in, it was another one hour wait to get our interview. Our interviewer was an older woman, fairly cold and serious, and seldom smiled during our interview. Afterwards we were told to sit in the waiting room while the interviewer made copies of our documents. We thought things weren't going too well, but to our surprise, my wife was approved! 
BTW it seems you can bring your cell phone into the building. I vaguely overheard as we were passing through security that cameras were forbidden but that cellphones were okay. In the waiting people I saw several people using their iphones/blackberries in plain view of the security guard.
