Egypt Review on August 23, 2009:

Dr. A ♥ O

Review Topic: General Review

He arrived at the American Embassy in Cairo at 7:10 am on August 23rd. He said he saw they were already lined up and going inside. There were two guys at a desk and they asked while he was standing in the line if there is anyone else for an immigrant visa interview. He told the guy he is having an interview and then was requested to show his letter. They checked his letter and bag of evidence and wrote a code on top giving him a number and said go directly to the guy at the door. They let him in. He was #15 out of 22 for immigrant visa interviews and he said there were around 170 for non-immigrant visa interviews.

Once inside he waited for an hour and then they called his number and he met with an Egyptian female at the window. She checked his papers and asked for his 2x2 pictures and he explained he already sent the two required by DHL for the K3 packet. She checked and found one already stapled that she had missed. Then she gave him the 1040 form back. She asked for the originals for the I-864's and accepted only the copy of my Mom's since she's joint sponsoring us. He said he had honestly forgot the originals. She said it was ok and the counselor could decide if they needed the originals. She asked for the wedding pictures and he gave them to her. She started to look at the pictures and prepare him for the interview by asking questions but he declined; instead opting to wait for the actual interview. Then she asked him to pay the DHL fee at another window. He paid the DHL fee and then waited for another 2 hours until he was called for his finger print scan. After his finger print scan it was time for his interview. The consular asked for his DHL receipt then gave back his original military certificate and birth certificate that he had given the Egyptian female. He said the interview then went like chitchat, very friendly and short.

The questions she asked were:
How long have we been married?
What do you do for a living?
Where did we meet?
When was the last time your Wife was here?
When did your Wife leave?
Where did we live?
Where were you working?

Then she said ok congratulations! Your visa has been approved and that they would send his passport to him with his visa to the address he left with DHL. He told her that the Egyptian female said that she might like to take a look at the email list from me to him and our SMS's and so forth. That he had the whole thing printed off and she said no need to. That he'd get his visa in 2-3 weeks with no AP.

However, we had 5 months, 1 week and 4 days of Administrative Processing & Administrative Review and recieved the actual visa in hand Feb 2010.
