Review Topic: K1 Visa

My interview was on a Monday at 9am and I arrived at 8.40. There was a huge line outside for non-immigrant visas, but I asked the guy giving instructions at the front and he said I could bypass it if I was coming for a K-1. Friendly, airy atmosphere inside, the big hall mostly filled with student and au pair visa applicants. The first two windows went pretty quickly, then I had to wait a while for the actual interview with the consul. He was very friendly, and only asked about my previous stays in the US (I was there for almost six years studying and teaching), what my fiancé did for a living, if he had visited me in Germany, and when I was planning to travel and get married. Then he said I should have the visa by the end of the week. I ended up receiving it the following Monday. -- The Frankfurt consulate is really great and the experience is so different from dealing with USCIS!
