Review Topic: K1 Visa

Appointment at 7am, we arrived at about 5 till 7am with about 35 people lined on the waiting ramp. On the waiting ramp they made sure all Americans were shewed away from the entire proximity of the building so I went to a coffee shop across the street and shopped a market down the street for even more coffee (0 sleep for both of us).

She waited at #5 window with the other K-1, K-3 and vacation petitioners. She was second after waiting 2 hours and was called in by a farang "pretty, young lady not wear make up" to stand at the interview bank-teller's style window (open design with no privacy).

The lady said "Sawatdee ka" and my fiancee did a low wai and responded likewise. She asked my fiancee to hand her the stamper (outside the window from her reach) and said "Thank you" my fiancee said "Welcome" and they smiled at each other "big". The lady looked right into my fiancee's her eyes and said "Everything you are going to tell me will be the truth?" and my fiancee made a rapid hand gesture with both hands and said "YES, I promise tell you everything true" then she was finger printed while standing there while the lady opened her packet and immediately started into questioning.

1. How did you meet your fiancee? "Sitting next to each other in an internet cafe...he was looking at the internet about business..." the lady interrupted and said "no, he was not looking at the internet about business...try again". My fiancee said "I don't know what he was doing on the internet for sure but he was sitting next to me in the internet cafe and we started talking...(I was looking for how to travel to Cambodia-said so in introduction letter sent 1 year ago-nervous fiancee mistake). The lady then said "OK, that's good, but it wasn't about business" my fiancee said "No, I don't know for sure what he looking for but this how we meet"

2nd question: How many times have your fiancee come to see you "Right now 4 times. 1st time April,, second time....third time....(lady was busy writing exact mentioned dates then comparing her noted answers with the existing and new files and quickly flipping through dated photos and correlating documents) My fiancee finished "and this time he is here right now waiting for me outside"

The lady next said "You can come get your visa on the 28th" in shock my fiancee said, "WHAT? then the lady spoke Thai and repeated herself. My fiancee in shock did a royal deep wait and a bow and said "thank you thank you thank you so very much...are you sure?" The lady responded in Thai again and they both were smiling "big" at each other.

I was told there were 3 ladies on staff doing visas. One for vacation, one for K-1 and K-3. It seems only one lady is doing these fiancee/marriage visas. The vacation visa lady was VERY direct and loud; denied a mamasan (we think for a bar) who was dishonest 2 applications ago so she was likely marked denied for life but we escorted her by cab to our lawyer's office to help out. A lady (first interview) with a baby was denied because her fiancee needed a work guarantee for continued employment she didn't have(I think this was her second RFE).

I told my fiancee not to dress up or wear anything but our engagement ring-no other gold and just be herself. My fiancee noticed NONE of the embassy employees were wearing makeup and all dressed just like her; relaxed casual clothes, not dressed up at all. It seemed the heavily made up pretentious looking women with excess war paint (one even wearing a LARGE horse racing style party hat and near ghost white makeup) got more scrutiny and denials were dished out (subj. observation) from whatever window was attracting these types (likely vacation or business petitioners)...remember-that's subjective observation from my fiancee.

TELL THE TRUTH AND YOU HAVE NOTHING TO FEAR! One lady for vacation application wasn't sure if she had a boyfriend or not at her interview (we think it was an honesty issue) and got denied a second time on the spot and likel as red flagged for vacation visa (we think she was a bar mamasan after trying to help her when we personally taxi-escorted her to meet our lawyers so she could understand if she had a chance and to learn about truthfulness versus white lies (her answers were not succinct from what it sounded and would change if asked twice).

Study all the questions just in case. it helps from what I read if your fiancee is there waiting for you outside so she can mention it, at least with this lady.

The entire interview lasted 10 minutes (fingerprints, paper signing and review but the speaking part lasted about 2.

Excellent review; my fiancee wants to be friends with her she had so much fun!
