USE Manila
Day of the Interview- Dress appropriately. There is no dress code..but i think it's better to dress in a business attire. Double check all your papers, specially your appointment letter for the day..you won't be able to pass the guards without it. Reminder, NO CELLPHONE NO ELECTRONIC GADGETS NO LIQUIDS. You can get food and drinks inside the waiting area.
PLEASE BE THERE EARLY..at least 1 hour ahead of your time schedule..there will be a long line, but not to worry, all K1 K2 K3 K4 are immigrant visas..they have a different line to follow. B1/B2 lines are long, a security personnel will inform you where to go. Bring out your appointment letter, the guard will look for it. Security check with all your belongings passing through an x-ray machine. After that..follow the BLUE ARROW..that's for immigrant visas..where it will lead to a big waiting area..they call it HOMELAND SECURITY DEPARTMENT.
At these point..another security guard will meet you..asked what time your schedule is..and he will lead you to where you should sit and wait. While seated, a Lady will give instructions..which papers you need to bring out. The appointment letter, 2 copies of DS 156, 2 copies of DS 157 and 1 copy of DS 156K also the receipt given by BDO for your visa payment. Please note that your 2x2 photos should be glued to your application forms. Also very important, do not leave any blank on your application forms. The lady will give note on your form once she reviewed it and you will be asked to line up at the "TICKETING BOOTH" where your papers will be reviewed and stamped received..and you'll be given your NUMBER and also a form for Air21..which will be filled up later.
Ok,now you have your number..PLEASE MEMORIZE IT..at exactly 7am, the homeland security or the finger printing section will call names/number..so pay attention. They will tell you what window you fall in line..bring your NUMBER with you. The lady will get it from you and she will assist you on what to do. After finger printing, go be seated..wait for your number to be flashed..please, pay attention at all times..they will call your number or name and would say..LAST CALL..so please, don't miss this, not sure what will happen.
On these part, an examiner/processor will interview you..it's like preliminary interview, about YOU and the petitioner, these is where they would asks documents or photos or anything under the sun...that they think they need for your case. Why I say..anything under the sun?..well because for me this part is the toughest. I was annulled..i have my annotated NSO marriage certificate, i have my decision of the court, have my finality decree...the processor wanted to see the original document that i filed for the annulment..just to know what year i filed the case..which is really silly because it's in all those documents that i have given him. He even wanted me to get a CENOMAR. Good thing, he asked another examiner, which told him that it's not necessary,haay,..again he asked for more photos, asks about my son who is qualified to join/follow..just being makulit. After like 15 mins. of talking, sorting, and reading..he let me take my seat and said to wait for my number to flash again for the final interview.
These part is the easy part for me, seated and waited..number flashed..i was asked to wait on room 28..i went inside, a young man greeted me, Magandang Umaga..upo ka. I greeted him Good Morning! I was nervous..but was greeted happily by this man..and asking for pardon because of the waiting and the stress that comes with the interview, i smiled and my nervousness was gone. ADVICE to all getting into interview..just don't be conscious of your English usage..you can Taglish if you like. I think they understand simple Tagalog, just answer truthfully and of course you need to have solid evidence to back up your relationship.
The best thing about the CO..he was very impressed with my fiance's documentation. It really showed that my fiance cared so much because his diligence in making 7 books for the petition and the years of waiting..he again apologizes for the long wait for the annulment.
TAKE NOTE: The records you send out to USCIS will be forwarded to US Embassy Manila, if your file that your petitioner sent out is complete..then you don't have to worry a thing. They will only verify all about your fiance..and if you are not sure about your answer, then there is that doubt.
QUESTIONS HE ASKED:
Is my youngest son US citizen?(i was taken aback by this question)
Is he coming with you?
Where did you meet?
When did he visit you?
His 2nd trip?
His 3rd trip?
His job?
What will i do when i get to the US?(answer:marry my fiance..he laughed)
When? (answer:Sept.13)
What year? (answer: 2009)
Who was your lawyer?
Who was your psychiatrist?
Your visa is approved!
He says "my colleague will call your number again. Sorry for the long process."
Then i said, Thank you sir. Good morning.
Outside..i waited for my number to flash..and went to the window where another examiner gave me the pink slip and told me to fill up the form given by Air21.
So that's it. Good luck to all. Thanks to all that posted their review and guidelines here at VJ regarding K1 and US Embassy-Manila,was a great help. Here's my review..hope you'll learn something from my experience. Don't worry about anything..just be true to yourself..they will know..it's their job to know.
GOOD LUCK!
