When my fiance' first got to the Consulate, a lady called his name and asked for the visa fee and his forms. Then the lady told him that he can sit until his name is called again. Then another man, Moroccan, called his name and he asked for his certificates (birth, police, court and single hood) and his passport and then said he can sit until they call his name again. He did have his fingerprints taken but I am not sure at what stage. Then an American man called his name last and this was who interviewed him. The man was very nice and friendly. He signed his forms during the interview. The actual interview lasted about 20-25 minutes. He asked to see our chats, emails & pictures and asked the following questions.
1. When my fiance' learned English, where/how he learned it, who taught him and what was that man's name and if he learned English before or after we met.
2. My full name, first, middle & last.
3. My birthday.
4. When we met and where/how we met.
5. Where I work and asked him to explain what I do in my job.
6. Where I worked before this job.
7. Where I live and what kind of house I live in, apartment or house.
8. What my religion is and what his religion is.
9. If his family is happy that we will be married.
10. If I have brothers or sisters and where they live.
11. About my education.
12. Who took out pictures.
13. He asked about our engagements rings and if he bought mine and who bought his.
At the end, the man verified my fiance's phone number, gave him the 221G form (with nothing marked)with the date on it, kept his passport and said that they will call him.
Today I called the Consulate to ask if it was normal for them to keep his passport because the man never said anything to him about keeping it. They asked for my Fiance's name and a few seconds later said, 'Ah yes, it is normal and ok for them to keep his passport and when we get the clearance, they will call him. Probably next week, a maximum of 1 week and they will call him.' So I said, 'When they call him to come back to get his passport and Visa, he will just need to show his ID outside to get in to get it?' He said yes. So hopefully they will call in a week, but until then we will just wait for the final decision. Inchallah it will be good and come soon!
