So 2 days ago I had my Interview sheduled for 8am
I left my house at 4am and arrived at quarter to seven. I immediately lined up and was the second person in line. We had a security guard walking around making sure we dont have cell phones or hairspay. He also made sure that we all would be in a good mood
About 10 Minutes after 7 they started to give us numbers. Every type of Visa has a Different Letter in front of the number. The Lady in front of me who also applied for K1 had W500 I had W501. Other People had S001 or D300. That way it was easy to know WHEN it actually was your turn.
After we went through the securty check where they even took away car keys we entert the actual consulate building. After another 10 minutes someone came to look at our numbers and tell us where to sit.
About ten minutes before eight I got called to Window 23 and had to give them my passport the proof of payment for the visa and a passport picture. They gave me a green paper that told me how to organize my documents. About 30 minutes later I got called to window 20 and a friendly lady and me went through my documents and we "repaired" small mistakes (I didnt point out that I AM NOT MARRIED yet, i just left it blank so I added N/A and everything was good). She asked me a couple of questions to make sure the papers are up to date (so you still live in ..blah .. your dads name is ... blah ..). After that she gave me aan envelope and i wrote my adress on it. i cant wait to see that one again!!!
She asked for another passport picture and told me to wait a couple of minutes for the interview.
As I noted before only one lady was before me so I knew exactly when it would be my turn. also the lady from the last window told me that the interview will be held at window 16 or 17 so we both started at them and waited for someone to come. I must say that we also had to do our medical after the interview since the consulat wrote in our letter that we shall wait. The doctor only accepts us until 11am though and we didnt know how far away it would be.
But at 9 am window number 16 opend and i was relieved and happy. The Lady went to the window and about 3 minutes later she turned around with a huge smile and the thumbs up and i was seriously happy for her!
after that i was able to see how my documents were read and soon my number was called. I was absolutely not nervous as im doing this visa thing for the right reason and walked up there with a huge grin
The interview, and everything happening at the consulate, was in german. I was almost dissapointed about that.
The interview went like this:
Consul: "so your boyfriend is in the military?"
Me: "Yes he is"
C: "Is he stationed in Germany?"
M: "not anymore he was transferd to ..."
C: "I see. How long have you know each other?"
M: "About a year"
C: "Oh I just saw you were in Germany before? 18 Months????"
M: "Yes Sir I was an exchange student"
C: "Oh, were did you live?"
M: "In Chicago"
C: "Alright so you will go to the medical now and as soon as they forward the information and everything is fine you should have the Visa by the end of next week or the beginning of the week after"
I didnt have to show a proof or anything. Birth certificate, police certificate, the passport, affidavit of support and passport pics was all i needed.
I sent my boy a text at 9:14 by then they interview 2 people I walked back through the huge area of that consulate and got my keys back from security so you can imagin how short the interviews were.
After that we went to the doctor and spent about 3 hours there Sadly the doc was also not friendly, nice or helpful at all
So even though i passed the interview i still have to wait and see what the medical will show. The Doc told me that I should see another doctor about an issue but he did not say if that might impact the visa so im hoping and wishing it was 2 weeks from now
