We were approved so of course I think his experience was great!
He got there early enough and was in line. Someone told him about paying the visa fee at the bank so he got out of line and went see about it. This wasn't the case for the type of visa he was there for. When he got back, he was last in line. At some point they gave him the visa amount to pay and a number. After that, he was sent to a cashier to pay. Then he had to go and submit all the required forms including his birth certficate, medical info, etc. At that point, the person collecting the info said he wanted to see a photo of me and he looked at the photos of what I submitted w/ my petition and my SO bragged on me saying that I was beautiful...he's so sweet. After that he waited a while and then onto they went into another area where the interviews were taking place. He was the last to be interviewed. He watched others very closely while they were interviewing. He said there were 3 men and one female interviewing and he was hoping not to go to one certain male cuz it seemed that this guy asked too many questions and gave people a hard time. Well, he had go to to the man he didn't want. But he thought to himself to be confident and strong in his answers. He said he wasn't there very long and the interview was easy. Questions asked: 1. How did you meet your fiance? At this question, he explained that we met online at a certain date and then met in person at a certain date. 2. Where does she work? He told him where I worked, what my title was and the type of work I did 3. What did you do while she visted you? 4. When was she here? 5. When did you get engaged? 6. Do you know she has a son? At this point he answered yes and gave him my son's age and that in a few days will be his birthday. This was basically it for questions. As my SO was answering the questions, the interviewer was writing everything down. He asked to see e-mails and my SO brought up the whole file to show him how much we had in there and pulled out the e-mails. The SO looked thru these e-mails while typing on the computer. He asked about the phone logs and that was the biggest stack as that is how we mostly communicate. Once my SO brought those out, the interviewer said never mind I don't need to see all of that. After a little more typing on the computer and going away he came back and he sent my SO a blue slip thru the slot without saying anything. MY SO didn't know what it was and the guy told him to go ahead and take it and that he was free to go and then my SO looked at it and it said something about being approved. He was so happy. I got the call a little after 12:00 pm his time. He was the last one interviewed and he was there about 6 hours since he got there early. But he's not complaining about that at all. He said that the time to ask/answer the questions was about 2 minutes and the time to look at e-mails was 2 mintues so it was very short. Oh, and at the end the man gave back our pictures we submitted with the petition. I had sent much more with our evidence but I guess they didn't need to see anymore. I had sent about 20 with the petition. The one thing my SO kept repeating to me was about the dates. He seemed to think it was very important to the interviewer. The interviewer wanted to make sure of the dates and the date we got engaged. So, be confident in the dates of the things that happened. Also, I know people recommend giving short answers but in our case my SO elaborated a bit on some answers and I think that helped the SO realize that he knew what he was talking about. I am so thankful to God and wish all of you who are still waiting the best!
