My husband interview was on 6/12/09, I actually was in Jamaica at the time for his interview, to provide him support. I didn't want anything to go wrong just because I wasn't there. We drove from Mo'bay to Kingston for the 7am interview. We arrived about 6:30am and there was 2 lines already forming. The ladies in the yellow shirts told us which line to get into. They have people outside telling you, phones or cameras are not allowed in the Embassy. There are people that will give you a ticket to hold your items. We left our things in the car, so no worries for us. Now the starts to move first we go through the little building with the metal devices, then you are told to wait outside in the shaded garden area. Its about 6:45am and there are about 30 people waiting outside, most of them are standing in a line and few are sitting. The guard tells everybody you don't have to line up, so move further down. About 5 min pass and a man comes from around the corner and explains to make sure all doc's are sign, if not he will send you to the back. All the sudden the guard "OK, everybody get into a single file line", I was thinking are you kidding me after you just said not to line up. Now its like a mad dash to get a good position in line. So now we all walk in to a small room, the guy explains if you are here for visitor visa, I will give you and yellow slip and a number and you will go to the left. But if someone is filing for you, you will go to the right. We get our #A101 and go and sit down at the right, we are. 2nd in line now. So Andrew is really nervous so I'm telling him to relax a little. After about 15min the room is completely filled. We are watching two ladies behind the window getting themselves ready to start calling numbers. Its now 7:15am the first number called is our number, so we jump up and go to the window. The lady is a Jamaican and she's a little rude. She as Andrew if I'm his wife and he responses "Yes". Then she ask if he has the original copy of his divorce decree, I actually start looking for it in all the papers I had, then I told her "you have the original in the pack that's in you hands", she says "I know, let's move on". Im thinking to myself why would you ask for it then....whatever. So she gets Andrew's fingerprints and tells us to sit down and listen for our number to be called. So now we're people watching. About 20min pass and our number is called to window #1 and there is a young American woman, she ask to see both our passports, then ask Andrew for his old one, but he didn't have it because he left it in the car, ugh. She said ok, she then gave me back mine and kept Andrew's. She then tells me to take a sit because she going to ask my husband some questions. Andrew then pick up the phone...Do you two have children together....Have I ever met his kids...When/Where did we meet....When was the last time he has seen me...Ok now its my turn, I pick up the phone....Have you meet his kids....How many times have you seen him since you meet him? I answer "we lived together for 2 years, then he got stuck here." She looks at me and said, Ok, tell your husband to come up. Then she tells him, "Congratulations, welcome to the United States." We went and paid DHL, to have his visa delivered to Mo'Bay and walked out with huge smiles on our faces. We were finish @ 8am, not bad. I'm so happy this part is over, now all we have to do is wait for the delivery....yay!!!!!
