hello fellow visajourney.com readers - this post is due to the interview that my fiance received yesterday 6/10/2009 at the consulate in guangzhou - to start off lili went to guangzhou on 6/07/2009 to get a overall view of guangzhou - i arrived in guangzhou from kunshan on 6/08/2009 - she wanted to get there early enough to get a good (cheap) motel, to get her medical done prior to interview on 6/08/2009, and for us to go to the american citizens hour on 6/09/2009 - everything went according to plan - the few things that could go wrong did go wrong - it rained everyday just enough to dampen our clothes but not our spirits - the medical went smooth - when it was time to go to american citizens hour at the consulate building we arrived on time at about 10:00 a.m. - they were very aggressive in trying to get us into the office and take our money - yes the paperwork (forms 156 -157) we prepared were in pen and they needed to be typed out to have more of a professional look to it - so i paid 300 rmb to have them retyped out - my fault - i also found that when they typed the paperwork out again that they made many errors - so make sure to review the work on the forms they do - if you have made it this far then you dont need to go to the american citizens hour because they will only try to get your money and tell you that the paperwork needs work and such... - they said that they could train my fiance and give her a 90% chance to get approved - what questions she will be asked, how to present herself, and how to respond to those questions which will be asked - EVERYTHING THAT IS HERE ON VISAJOURNEY.COM ALREADY - thankfully i did not fall for that talk and decided not to give away anymore money to the american citizens hour offices than i already did - because as of 6/10/2009 at about 11:00 or so we received our PINK slip and now we are on our way to u.s.a. on 6/20/2009
for those of you who think that it is a good idea to go to the american citizens hour it is - but if you know what you are doing then dont waste money and just go into the offices and hear what they have to say
on the pink slip it says that it has no connection with anything execpt with whats on the 5th floor - well that is true so believe that!
my personal opinion is that american citizens hour isnt nothing but a scam!
we arrived to the consulate building at 05:45 on 6/10/2009 because her appointment time was 07:15 - we were about 8th in line but by the time it was 07:30 we were 25th in line due to the unorganization of chinese people and how they just like to jump into lines -
now on to my experience with waiting for lili outside the building - after there was about 100 people in line i looked but could only see maybe 2 or 3 people that looked american so i guess that many SO were not available to come to interview or that there wasnt that many K-1 visa applicants who were american - i waited from 07:45 (when she entered the building) until 11:00 or so - i started by sitting on the ledge outside the consulate building and the security guard said i had to move and wouldnt let me sit - then it started raining about 09:00 and i had to move into the building where i saw many pink and many blue slips exiting the building - did not see many white slips -
of course she tried to trick me and say that she didnt get approved but that only lasted about 1 minute before i saw right through her act of trickery - were are both very relieved!
now that i have returned to kunshan on 6/10/2009 late at night i leave her in guangzhou to conclude her trip to that awlful town and to pick up her visa at post office (which says 2 working days after payment of 20rmb) which was paid immediately after interview - i look back and think what a stress this has been on our lives just to see if we could pass that interview - and with that behind us we can look to many years ahead of the great life we will have together - THANKS VISAJOURNEY
