Interview was at 1pm, I was third on the que outside the Embassy. I was called into the security check area, I had a friend with me so i left my bag with her, it made my life a little easier and the gaurds seemed to laugh at the fact that i had nothing other than my paperwork with me, They were very plesant and helpful, they took my details then sent me on my way to the embassy itself.
I walked in, there were 2 other people waiting for the k1, I made small talk with the lady who was ahead of me, she actually helped calm me down, I was SUPER stressed out. As she had gone ahead i saw her face kinda drop, turned out she had forgot something, anyway, then i paniced again wondering if i had actually got everything. One piece of advice i will give.....DO NOT WORRY!!!its not that bad. She camer back and said they wouldn't accept her birth certificate as an authorised form because she had only had a copy of it stamped by the gaurds.
anyway the lady called me up, she asked for my birthcert, 1 copy and the original, she then asked for the police cert, then my DS-156, (thats the online form) 2 of those, she asked me to sign them both then she attached my passport photos to them, she then asked for the Affidavit of support and James bank and job info, she told me to go to the cashier and pay the fee and then take a seat.
I was sitting there for maybe 15 minutes then i heard a guy call my name, I walked up to the window and there was a very friendly, smiling young American man on the other side. He asked how I was and said Ok you are almost there, just gotta take some finger prints and ask a couple questions and we are done.
He asked:
How did we meet?
What did James do in the US?
When we got Engaged?
Where we got engaged?
Where in the USA i was going to live?
and what i worked at right now.
I cracked a couple of jokes with him, i told him if he was looking for an engagement ring he would have to wait, or make the government lower the fees of the visa's LOL, he laughed quite a bit, then he reassured me that everything would be over very soon. (now, when i first got up to the window i noticed a big red stamp on my file saying APPROVED)
He asked me for a large brown envelope and 8 euro worth of stamps on it, i only had 7 but he said it should be fine, he then said congratulations and i should expect my visa within about 3-4 days.
That was it, I was so very nervous, on the verge of being physiclly sick, but i can assure you it will all be ok.
