Since we live about a 3 hour drive away from the office we spent the night in San Antonio as the interview was slated for 8:30am. It's a good thing we did too because that morning there was a collision on one of the interstates and anybody coming from that direction would undoubtedly have been very very late.
We entered the building and passed through security (had to return to the car and leave our camera/cell phones in there). I was seated for no longer than 5 minutes when my spouse and I were called up.
The immigration officer guided us up in an elevator and to his office. He asked for the EAD, AP, biometrics notice and passport. He checked the paper work, everything was in order, he kept the EAD and AP, stamped and marked my passport and returned it to me. He then explained that in 1 year and 9 months we had to apply to remove our conditions. He said the green card would be in the mail within a month and that we should only be concerned and contact them if we had not received it in 2 months time.
He asked to see some proof of a relationship and we showed documentation of our shared bank account and a lease with both our names on it. Then he asked to see our wedding pictures and we showed the pictures from our reception. He asked my spouse about her job and that was pretty much it. He led us out to the foyer and we left with a smile on our faces and a feeling of relief.
