My American Fiance, 11 years old daughter and I arrived at the Montreal Consulate at 7:00 am. There was another woman there and also some people manifesting peacefully in the front of the US Consulate. We were second in line and I discussed with the lady that was the first about the VisaJourney Website information. Both agreed that it is a wonderful ressources tool. The security open the door as usual at 7:30 am. Every one was kind and polite toward us. We got letter B. All the step descibed were followed. At 8:00 we were called to first window. The lady asked me for all my original certificates and one copy, passports, photos, police certificate. She asked my fiance who he was. Then she send me to another casher with a paper for payment and after to wait until they called us back. The lady before us, got out from the interview room and had been approved. We were so happy and gave her a hug. We waited around 30 to 45 minutes before they called us back for fingerprint and to give her the payment receipt. We went back to the waiting area ans were call for the Interview around 10:00 am. The lady was really nice and smiling. She made all of us sware by raising our first hand. Then asked my 11 years old who is not fluent in English if she was gone tell her the thruth today. She said yes and she explain this is why she had her raised her hand earlier. She wanted to make sure that my daugther understood what is was about. We found that really nice of her. Then she look at my fiance and said are you Paul? He said yes. She asked us where we met, when we got engaged, the date of the wedding and discussed in a very friendly way that we did not even realized that we were giving her all what she wanted to verify. As an exemple, she asked my daugther if she liked the Santa Cruz BoardWalk, if she like California, where she will go to school next year. I gave her the name of 2 school we are looking at. She talked about the economy with my fiance and asked if it affected his company. She had read in our file that we saw the Senator in San Josee and the Cirque du Soleil at our visit in March 2008 and she laught when I mentionned her that I lived near Ottawa and saw the Senator for the first time in San Jose. Her and my Fiance who is as much a serious hockey fan than her talked on hockey. We got out 10 to 15 minutes after.

It was a very enjoyable experience and we were well prepares as we had 4 inches of documents to proof our ongoing relationships and we did not need to provide any of it. Good for them because they would have been really surprised as my Fiance is coming up from California each months since the last 2 years and I visited him as well.

Thank you to everyone on this website, your help is greatly appreciate. We will continue to let you know what is happening with the other step along the way so that we are contributing in helping others as you did for us. Sorry if there is gramatical mistakes in the text, I am still excited.....

Christine
